Acceptable Material and What Not To Shred
12/29/2009
Most commercial shredders on the market today will shred anything from paper to bowling balls and mixed messages concerning what is acceptable to shred can be confusing. Our message is clear and all of the paper we shred is recycled, please assist us in our efforts to protect your environment and your identity.
We accept paper / printed media only. Documents with staples and paperclips are acceptable but please take the time to remove metals, plastics and any non-paper items that you may have mixed in with your papers. Documents are securely shredded, baled and transported to recycling mills where they go through many recycling processes such as deinking and pulping, finally making their way back to market as recyclable consumer products. By removing non-paper items prior to shredding you increase recycling, save time and allow for a smoother transition between document shredding and recycling.
Please sort through your materials before dropping off at our facility or one of our shred events. We do not accept…
Electronic media (CD’s, Cassettes, Floppy Discs, Hard Drives etc…)
Flammables / combustibles (Matches, Lighters and Aerosols etc…)
Batteries (All Types)
Plastics (Credit / Store cards, Bags, clip boards etc…)
X-rays (Microfiche, photographs etc…)
Metals (Spiral and 3 ring binders, binder clips etc…)
Fabrics (Clothing, towels, rags etc…)
Please remember that newspaper, magazines, phone books etc can be recycled and don’t need to be shredded. We are happy to recycle these items for you or you can place them in your curbside paper recycling bins.
We would like to thank everyone in advance for your cooperation and support and look forward to serving you at our facility and community shred events in the future.
